- I even had two Zip drives for a while, and they look quite nice, joined
- together, along with an external hard drive and half a gigs worth of disks!
-
-
- (had to sell the other Zip drive cos it encrouched my rent money)
-
- i have both the software for the two drives though, one from 4th Level Dev.
- and the other from HiSoft (Squirrel Zip Tools).
- I use a combination of both to handle the Zip drive (a combination, since
- 4th Levels software conflicts and cancels out the HiSoft program)
-
- I've seen requests for mountfiles for Amiga, Mac and PC formatted Zip disks.
- Does anyone want me to slap them up here or is there a copyright prob?
- (the mountfiles are from Hisoft, i havent checked the ones from 4th Level
- - i got my Zip's about a month and a half ago)
-
- I want to have a Mac partition on one of my disks, but keep the disk as a
- Ms-Dos formatted disk (i cant afford CrossMac or whatever, otherwise i
- wouldnt have this problem) so i can hop the disk between Macs, PC's and my
- Amiga's.
- Anyone know how to do it? Can i port the partition (treating it like a big
- file) and dump it onto the hard drives of my Amiga's?
- (i will , hopefully, be running ShapeShifter..i've got as far as *dong* and
- the disk&"?" icon flashing away...)
-
- I have one problem, actually two, come to think of it...
-
- the first is that i had my first "error" with a Zip disk.
- Its Ms-DOS format, and when i opened a directory, it grinds a bit and then
- said something like "Device Error, Error=30" or something close
- I cant remember the exact error message, and it only happened twice.
-
- the second is a little more serious...
- the drive doesnt recognize having one of my disks in it.
- I dont recall having done anything to the disk (still Ms-DOS format if i
- remember right).
- All that happens, is that i put the disk in....the drive whirrs and clicks
- twice and then nothing happens.
- I have tried it on both Amiga's and Mac's and both basically say that there
- isnt a disk in the drive. (though, physically there is)
- All my other disks are fine (aside from the aforementioned "Device Error" on
- only one of them (incidently, this was the ex-ZipTools Disk that came with
- the drive, and was formatted as a DOS device on a Mac)
-
-
- oh yes, something else....Only some Mac's, not all, like the DOS formats of
- the disks, about 50/50 like/dislike(give"initialize"options) the formats.
- Anyone else had this problem?
-
- And one last thing....I had this plugged into a PowerMac someweeks before
- Chrimbo, and i did a "Get Info" on one of my disks...
- I had to wait at least 5/10 minutes for it to finish that, and then
- it said i had 350,000 files in over 29,000 folders resulting in 3.7 Gigabytes
- of information....
- Which is nice to hear on a 95.6 Mb disk, but is a little worrying.
- (And it says it everytime i do it, so i dont anymore, cos it takes too long)
-
- Anyone else had this apart from me?
